Former President Donald Trump on Monday posted a video on his social media platform that uses a language that appears to mirror that of Nazi Germany, suggesting there will be a "Unified Reich" if he wins the 2024 election.

The phrase "Unified Reich" appears as a part of hypothetical news headlines that announce Trump's hypothetical victory in the 2024 election, with the narrator asking, "What happens after Donald Trump wins?"

Under a big headline that says, "WHAT'S NEXT FOR AMERICA?" there is a smaller headline underneath that appears to read: "INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED DRIVEN BY THE CREATION OF A UNIFIED REICH."

The video then predicts an economic boom, tax cuts, border security and deportation of undocumented immigrants if Trump wins the 2024 election.

In a statement to the AP, the Trump campaign claimed it is not a campaign video but rather a video reposted by a staffer who did not see the word.

“This was not a campaign video, it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word, while the President was in court,” Karoline Leavitt, the campaign press secretary, said.

The video was posted at 1:58 p.m. ET when the trial in Trump’s hush money trial was at lunch. The video was still up late Monday night.

A spokesperson for the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign slammed the video saying it was "parroting 'Mein Kampf.'"

Why would Donald testify if he's innocent and has nothing to hide?

The defense for former President Donald Trump has rested in his New York criminal trial, marking the end of witness testimony and paving the way for jury deliberation.

Trump's defense called up two witnesses: a paralegal who verified call logs between former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and lawyer and Trump ally Robert Costello. Then they called Costello to the stand.

In testimony that carried over into Tuesday morning's session, Costello testified to conversations and emails he had with Cohen following a 2019 FBI raid on Cohen's home and office.

They were the only two witnesses brought up by the defense, following over four weeks of testimony from prosecutors.
Prosecutors rest their case against Trump in the hush money case. Now it's his turn

Although Trump vowed to testify in this trial as he has did in civil trials in New York, he did not end up taking the stand.

Jurors spent several days hearing testimony from Cohen, as well as from former National Enquirer publisher Pecker, who first testified to the details of deals made with Cohen and Trump to flag potentially damaging stories. And they also heard from Keith Davidson, the lawyer who negotiated the nondisclosure agreements and settlement payments for Daniels and former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal.

Daniels also testified for several days. She recounted meeting Trump in 2006, having an alleged sexual encounter and negotiating with Cohen to sell her story nearly 10 years later.

NEW YORK, May 21 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump opted not to testify in his criminal hush money trial on Tuesday, bringing his defense to a quick conclusion and clearing the way for jurors to begin deliberations next week.
Trump had stoked speculation for weeks about whether he would take the stand to defend himself against charges of falsifying business records to cover up a hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
By testifying, he might have sought to personally convince a panel of 12 jurors and six alternates that his aim was to protect his family from embarrassment, not bury a story about an alleged sexual encounter damaging to his political prospects.
But criminal defendants typically do not testify in their own trials as it exposes them to probing questions from prosecutors.

He would have been at risk of perjury if he lied under oath.
In defiant and rambling testimony in a civil fraud trial last year, Trump was reprimanded by the judge and ultimately ordered to pay $355 million in penalties. A similar performance in this case could have alienated jurors.
“He could tank his whole case with one outburst," retired New York judge George Grasso said in an interview last week.
Trump, 77, has pleaded not guilty to 34 charges of falsifying business records. He has denied wrongdoing and said he never had sex with Daniels, who testified in detail about a 2006 liaison she said she had with Trump.

Prosecutors say the altered records covered up election-law and tax-law violations - since the money was essentially an unreported contribution to Trump's campaign - that elevate the crimes from misdemeanors to felonies punishable by up to four years in prison.

All Cohen admitted was making sure he got paid for his services after Trump tried to stiff him.

Meanwhile Trump's defense could have ended it there, but they shit the bed by calling Costello as their final witness who not only insulted the jury.

Europe Agrees to Give Russia's Billions to Ukraine

The European Union on Tuesday approved a plan to hand Ukraine the profits generated by frozen Russian central bank assets.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky said the move will hand Ukraine up to €3 billion (about $3.3 billion) this year.

"We have approved in the EU using revenues from Russia's central bank's frozen assets to help Ukraine," wrote Lipavsky on X, formerly Twitter. "Up to €3B only this year, 90% goes for Ukraine's military. Russia must pay for its war damages."

European Union member states and other Group of Seven countries (G7) had long debated about how $300 billion in Russian central bank assets stashed in Western nations should be used to help Ukraine fund its war effort against Russia.

The financial assets were frozen shortly after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Reuters reported this month that the EU has estimated that by 2027, windfall profits from Russia's central bank assets frozen in the world's largest trading bloc could reach €20 billion (about $21.7 billion). The frozen assets have been gaining a huge amount of interest because they are stuck.

LONDON — A pair of High Court judges in Britain granted Julian Assange permission to appeal his extradition to the United States, where he faces charges of espionage for releasing reams of sensitive military and diplomatic files via WikiLeaks in 2010.

It was a legal victory for Assange, as it meant that the 52-year-old WikiLeaks founder would not be whisked away by U.S. marshals. But he is set to remain in the high-security Belmarsh prison, on the outskirts of London, while his legal saga continues in Britain for more months.

Ok so this one's pretty great.
Cohen testified that CNBC pays a tech firm named Red Finch for polling. That tech firm accepts money to alter the results on their polls. Trump was polling poorly in a CNBC popularity poll conducted by Red Finch, and so in return for cash, Red Finch offered to "create an algorithm" and give trump a significant boost in the popularity poll. The end result of the poll is Trump was stated to be the 9th most popular businessman of the century. After seeing the results of this poll, CNBC no longer wanted to publish it, and thus, trump no longer wanted to pay for the agreement. Cohen then got salty and stole cash from trump and paid himself a bonus as well as his friend at Red Finch
https://abcnews.go.com/US/live-updates/cnbc-fake-polls/?id=110388136
Michael Cohen admits to stealing from Trump Organization

On redirect examination, Michael Cohen provided some background on the $30,000 he said he stole from the Trump Organization by overcharging them for work he did with Red Finch.

"Red Finch is a technology company that I had asked to assist in a CNBC poll, and the poll was regarding the most famous businessmen in, like, the last century," Cohen said, speaking to the jury. "Mr. Trump's name was on that list and at the beginning of this poll he was polling toward the very bottom. It upset him, so he had me come to his office and he provided me with a sheet of paper

"I reached out to Red Finch who told me he was able to create an algorithm to ensure that Mr. Trump would rise and rise significantly in this poll. We talked about what number Mr. Trump wanted to finish," Cohen said.

Eventually Trump came in No. 9 but he declined to pay Red Finch because CNBC didn't bother following through with the poll, Cohen said. Cohen ended up paying them -- in a brown paper bag in cash, he said.

https://www.axios.com/2024/05/19/senate-bipartisan-border-package-vote
The Senate will consider a bipartisan border package this week, putting pressure on Republicans to pass a bill that they helped to negotiate months ago.

Why it matters: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is reviving the border measure to give cover to the White House to take executive action on immigration and to protect vulnerable Democrats in 2024.

Republicans torpedoed the same exact package earlier this year, and they are expected to vote against it yet again.

Driving the news: Schumer said in a letter to lawmakers on Sunday that the chamber will move the bill this week, as Axios first reported.

"We are hopeful this bipartisan proposal will bring serious-minded Republicans back to the table to advance this bipartisan solution for our border," Schumer said in the letter.
The bipartisan border deal would give the White House new tools to use to restrict asylum when numbers at the border inflate.

Yes, but: Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), one of the architects of the bipartisan package, said last week that he would not support the bill if Schumer brought it back to the floor.

The bottom line: This is an attempt from Schumer to shift the politics of the border, which Republicans have hammered Democrats on since the beginning of the Biden administration.

https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4675469-trump-trial-chaos-judge-admonishes-defense-witness/
NEW YORK — Former President Trump’s hush money trial briefly devolved into chaos Monday when Judge Juan Merchan admonished a witness for improper decorum, after having the jury leave the courtroom, and then also ordered the room be cleared of press.

As tensions boiled over, reporters were abruptly told to leave the courtroom, the first time that has happened during the trial when proceedings were still underway. They were allowed back inside minutes later without explanation.

Minutes earlier, the defense called Robert Costello, a former legal adviser to ex-Trump fixer Michael Cohen, as its second witness. He is testifying about Cohen’s state of mind as federal investigators closed in on him in 2018.

Before reporters were kicked out, Merchan told jurors to leave the courtroom so he could admonish Costello over his courtroom behavior. Addressing the lawyer, the judge said he wanted to discuss “proper decorum” in his courtroom.

“When there is an eyewitness on the stand, if you don’t like a ruling, you don’t say, ‘Geez,’” Merchan said.

“You don’t give me a side eye. You don’t roll your eyes. You understand that?” he later said.

Trump’s entourage of allies were allowed to remain in the courtroom.

>MOSCOW, May 20 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin phoned Iran's new interim president on Monday as Moscow made clear its desire to preserve and build on its deepening relationship with Tehran despite the sudden death of President Ebrahim Raisi.

>The Kremlin said Putin expressed his condolences to interim president Mohammad Mokhber and to the whole Iranian people over Raisi's death in a helicopter crash, describing Raisi as a "reliable partner who made an invaluable personal contribution" to bilateral relations.

>"Both sides emphasised their mutual desire to further consistently strengthen comprehensive Russian-Iranian interaction for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries," the Kremlin said in its readout of the Putin-Mokhber call.
State news agency RIA quoted Sergei Shoigu, secretary of Russia's Security Council, as saying Moscow could assist Iran in its investigation of the crash.

>Since the state of the war in Ukraine, Russia has moved to strengthen its political, trade and military ties with Iran in a deepening relationship that the United States and Israel view with concern.

>In January, Russia's Foreign Ministry said a new interstate treaty reflecting the "unprecedented upswing" in Russia-Iran ties was in the final stages of being agreed, and Putin and Raisi were expected to sign it soon.

>Putin held five hours of talks with Raisi in the Kremlin in December and had spoken to him by phone in March and April, according to the Kremlin website.

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas's leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar for war crimes.

Karim Khan KC said there were reasonable grounds to believe that both men bore criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity from at least 7 October 2023.

Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh, along with the group's military chief Mohammed Deif are also wanted for arrest.

The ICC, based in The Hague, has been investigating Israel's actions in the occupied territories for the past three years - and more recently the actions of Hamas as well.

Mr Netanyahu recently called the prospect of senior Israel figures joining the ICC's wanted list "an outrage of historic proportions".

Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz - a political rival of Mr Netanyahu - denounced the prosecutor's decision.

"Drawing parallels between the leaders of a democratic country determined to defend itself from despicable terror to leaders of a blood-thirsty terror organisation is a deep distortion of justice and blatant moral bankruptcy," he posted on X.

ICC judges will now determine whether they believe the evidence is sufficient to issue arrest warrants.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hopes-fade-wreckage-found-helicopter-carrying-iranian-president-raisi-2024-05-20/

DUBAI, May 20 (Reuters) - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, a hardliner long seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a helicopter crash in mountainous terrain near the Azerbaijan border, officials and state media said on Monday.
The charred wreckage of the helicopter which crashed on Sunday carrying Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian was found early on Monday after an overnight search in blizzard conditions.
"President Raisi, the foreign minister and all the passengers in the helicopter were killed in the crash," a senior Iranian official told Reuters, asking not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter.
Raisi's death was later confirmed in a statement on social media by Vice President Mohsen Mansouri and on state television.
State TV reported that images from the site showed the aircraft slammed into a mountain peak, although there was no official word on the cause of the crash.
State news agency IRNA said Raisi was flying in a U.S.-made Bell 212 helicopter.
Raisi, 63, was elected president in 2021, and since taking office has ordered a tightening of morality laws, overseen a bloody crackdown on anti-government protests and pushed hard in nuclear talks with world powers.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who holds ultimate power with a final say on foreign policy and Iran's nuclear programme, had earlier sought to reassure Iranians, saying there would be no disruption to state affairs.

Trump Media and Technology Group, the owner of Donald Trump’s social networking site Truth Social, lost more than $300m last quarter, according to its first earnings report as a publicly traded company.

For the three-month period that ended 31 March, the company posted a loss of $327.6m, which it said included $311m in non-cash expenses related to its merger with a company called Digital World, which was essentially a pile of cash looking for a target to merge with.

It’s an example of a special purpose acquisition company, or Spac, which can give young companies quicker and easier routes to getting their shares trading publicly.

A year earlier, Trump Media posted a loss of $210,300.

Trump Media said collected $770,500 in revenue in the first quarter, largely from its “nascent advertising initiative”. That was down from $1.1m a year earlier.

“At this early stage in the company’s development, TMTG remains focused on long-term product development, rather than quarterly revenue,” Trump Media said in its earnings news release.

President Joe Biden's campaign team has trolled Donald Trump after he was caught wobbling embarrassingly while on the stage at a Minnesota rally.

The team took to X, where they shared a clip of the incident. They described the former president as "feeble" and mocked him for going on a tirade about the quality of the stage.

As part of Trump's campaign to promote his re-election bid, the former president recently held a rally in Minnesota.

During his speech, Trump encountered a moment of awkwardness when the podium he grasped tilted, causing the billionaire mogul to wobble embarrassingly on stage.

Angered by the incident, Trump then called out the event organizers for putting up what seemed to be a defective setup.

"You know this is the worst platform, who put this stage up?" he said. "The freaking place is falling down."

A clip of the incident was then shared on X(formerly Twitter) by Biden-Harris HQ and captioned with a statement that trolled Trump.

It read, "A feeble Trump nearly falls down on stage after he leans on his podium too hard and then goes on an angry rant, calling his event workers "crappy."
